Project Description

Another exciting new MilktechNZ® installation in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Hamish and Ella Ferguson are equity partners with Hamish’s parents Allison and Peter. There they milk 580 cows on 195 effective hectares using a system 4 with spring calving – feeding maize and PK all season.
Originally farming in the Waikato, the Fergusons moved to the Bay of Islands five years ago. Ella, originally from the UK met Hamish through young farmers while working for a Waikato based horse stud. Hamish and Ella said, “we are always looking for efficiencies and making sure our staff are happy so MilktechNZ® cup removers was an important part of achieving this. We chose MilktechNZ® due to its leading technology and innovation. We use the MaxT philosophy so instead of investing in retention arms we have invested in the MilktechNZ® TS-1 in-bail teat spray system. We are always thriving to improve our animal health, and teat spraying immediately after milking was very important to us.”
When not on the farm Hamish and Ella and their children Lillian, Hannah and Tessa are exploring everything the beautiful far north has in their 1970’s caravan.
Finally a big thanks from MilktechNZ® to the Ferguson family.
